Always make a back up before updating. Thay way at least you are safe

 Hook up your MaxiSys to a PC using the small connector on the side not the top one. Then save the scan folder.Thats where all the vehicles are and you can select them by themselves as you wish. Once you have these you can always go back if you are not happy with a certain update.I have saved mine for some time now. Hope this helps.

 My Maxisys locked up on startup after a system update. Had to buy a subscription first then they downloaded new system files to a sd card. Not sure if a backup would work in my situation or not. I was unable to get access to my scanner to be able to download any files.

 yes the above instructions will also work for you as long as you can make connection with a pc using the mini usb cable. sometimes a system update does lockup your tool but by doing a force restart holding the power button down until it completely shuts down then the  second or third time it boots up in most cases. I don't think autel is doing this on purpose or we will all be in the same situation. its tool specific why I don't know but a system update rewrites/flashes the internal hdd if it gets corrupted for what ever reason then it will crash. you need to have a backup not just a vehicle folder backup but a full backup of the whole thing at least one for this occasions. good luck hope I helped you in some way.

   one question I have though how were you able to download system update 1.28 if your out of a subscription ?

   ede65 my year was up in march. This is my personal tool so no need for programing at this time as shop has all factory euro subscriptions.

  wow  it is beyond me why autel releases such updates for tools no longer under subscription no wonder people are so suspicious of 1.28. yes do not install 1.28 system update until your ready to sub and may be autel support can shine a little light here too. thank you bob for letting me and everyone know about this, you may have saved a lot of us  some headaches and money.
